I went to this conference recently, as always, it was amazing! But there was this one speaker, that really blew me away. She was this eighty-three-year-old lady. This lady not only had it all together, but she was jumping around and spinning around the platform. She had such a drive, and tenacity about her, it was truly inspiring! Through the tears and the laughter, she touched every emotion possible! She touched your heart, she touched mine. She reminded me so much of my own grandma, she loved the Lord with her whole being! She was going to serve the Lord until the day He calls her home. I had always looked up to my grandma, she set the bar high! She displayed the love of Jesus everywhere she went. I pray that when I am in my golden years, God will still use me like that.
As I listened to this woman, I don't recall her looking at her notes, she knew the message she was going to give, she knew what God wanted her to say, and she knew how to make that message flow with such ease. I am sure that her years of preaching played an important role in that! But the scripture that flew off her tongue! I started to think about how far I have to go! Now, I understand that I came late to the game, as far as being all in for God! But I pray that my studies stick with me in the same fusion.
Matthew 4:4 says, "But Jesus told him, 'No! The scripture says, 'People do not live by bread alone, but every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edge sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires."
We need to nourish our bodies not only with food, but with the Word of God! When we feed our souls with His Word, it lives in us! It flows through our veins! It helps us stay in step with God!
The other thing that struck me was how this woman was jumping around! Now we all have our stories and our own brokenness. But for many of us.... we have done it to ourselves. I know I wouldn't have some of the issues that I have, if I had not allowed myself to become as obese as I did and stay in that state for as long as I did. I should have sought the Lord and doctors long before I did.
Now, there are absolutely things that we cannot avoid. Some of us will be impaled by a multitude of things. Someone told me a long time ago that I was the only person that could take care of myself! Sounds so simple! But there are so many that mistreat their own bodies. God is our Great Physician! He can't heal us if we are counter acting Him.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, "Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20. for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body."
If you are not taking care of your body now, even though it may feel like you are not doing any harm, think about the life you want in the future.
Thats when it will all catch up with you!
Keep nourishing your body with God's Word!
