Have you noticed that some of our key words are being taken out of our vocabulary? Some of the simplest words have been blacklisted. Or have been put in a category all of its own, as "trigger words". Now I am not an insensitive person. In fact, I would say the opposite. But I do know that I should be able to walk into a room and say, "Good Morning! It's a beautiful day!" Without being punished. How quickly we are now corrected on what is acceptable, and what is not. When will stand against all of this brainwashing and manipulation?? I will and can agree on some things! But the one I am hyper focused on today, is the word- "Nervous". That word has been cancelled! Void! Anyone want to guess what it has been replaced with?! Anxiety. Anxiousness.
Now anxious is by all means another word for being nervous! For being fearful of something! Being worried or concerned. However, anxious, and anxiety often lead to a medical diagnosis. And while we all have our things! Turning normal nervousness into diagnosed anxiety is a totally different ball game!
There are kids that do not attend school, because they are too anxious on the first day. There are children that never play sports! Because they are too nervous about whether or not they are good enough, or will fit in. These same children that have been taught to embrace that anxiousness, will never get a job, because they are too anxious to go to an interview. The things we teach our children, and expose them to, is important.
I by all means know that there is debilitating anxiety! But how much of it are we teaching? If our children are never nervous about anything. If we never make them step out of their comfort zones, are we not setting them up for pure failure!?! Firemen are scared when they run into a burning building! Police officers are scared going on a call where there are unknowns! Soldiers are petrified going out on a battlefield! What would happen if all of those professions went away? Because we have an entire generation that is happy and comfortable not lifting a finger on anything more than feeding themselves. Folks this is a serious reality! Not just a "What if".
God commands us many times about anxiety! To give it to Him! Philippians 4: 6 says, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done."
2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
God didn't make us to be shy! He didn't make us to hide in corners or behind walls! He made us to be strong! He made us to fight demons! He made us to shout His name from the mountain tops! He made you to make a difference! It's okay to be uncomfortable from time to time! It's okay to be anxious about something that is about to happen! That means you care! It means you are living!
Embrace the feeling and celebrate when your anxiety turns into joy!
Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
Pick up the strength of the Lord.
