We are going to start digging into God's power! If this doesn't stir up something in ya- ya better get to prayin! I'm convicted from these writings! There really isn't a human that wouldn't be! So buckle up!
As a person that seeks the Lord daily through prayer, and studying the Bible- this particular scripture slapped me right across the face! If you are still on the fence, or you are just happy and content where you are at with your relationship with Jesus- this may stop you in your tracks! This may take a few days- let's check out Zephaniah!
Now honestly- I had never read Zephaniah before, so when I ended up in the short three-chapter book- I thought I would sit and read the whole thing! But chapter one hit me so hard- it took me a moment to read chapter two! You may want to pray and get right with Jesus before reading any further!
How many of you have read the book of Zephaniah? This little nugget in the Old Testament! I know most people focus on the New Testament these days. But our God can and will use the Old Testament just the same!
So Zephaniah starts out like this, "2. I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth,' says the Lord. 3. 'I will sweep away people and animals alike. I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish in the sea. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, and I will wipe humanity from the face of the earth,' says the Lord."
WOAH!! I mean I have seen some angry people in my life! Our loving, merciful, and grace filled Lord was saying these things to Zephaniah! God was done with the shenanigans! All the betrayal! Notice even in His extreme anger- He is still giving a warning!
It continues:
"4. I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist and destroy every last trace of their Baal worship. I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests, so that even the memory of them will disappear. 5. For they go up to their roofs and bow down to the sun, moon, and the stars. They claim to follow the Lord, but then they worship Molech too. 6. And I Will destroy those who used to worship me but no longer do. They no longer ask for the Lord's guidance or seek His blessing."
WOW! Did you know that God was capable of such anger!?! Did you know that God could be so vengeful?!? This isn't your "feel good" Sunday school lesson! BUT!!! If God could feel this way about an area centuries ago... what do you think He thinks of the earth now??? I won't even watch the new anymore!! It makes me cringe! It makes my blood boil! And they are only showing the highlights! God sees all of it! He sees everything!!
God sends us messages as to how His blood is boiling at how evil this world has become through tsunamis and earthquakes, droughts and floods, etc. He is trying to get our attention! He is screaming through His anger! "WHAT DO I HAVE TOD FOR YOU TO BELIEVE?!?" He created us! Just as He said, "I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist." I can only imagine that He is ready to stomp out all of His creation! Just as we do to ant hills.
I am disgusted with what humanity has become! How dark and evil people have become! And how many people have become wolves.
Matthew 7:15 says, "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves."
There are so many that claim to follow Christ! And the turn around to bite you. This is why "Christianity" has received a bad name! But Christianity is about YOUR walk with Christ! Not anyone else's! Only YOU have to account for your actions! Don't let your actions be that of someone following anyone or anything other than Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Let God deal with the others and their actions!
