We have become so comfortable sitting in the lazy boy recliner of God's loving hands. We search the Psalms to be uplifted with verses of God's grace, and God's mercy, and God's love! We swaddle ourselves in the comfort that the Holy Spirit is with us - no matter what! And that He will pull us out of whatever pit we find ourselves in! Don't get me wrong! I LOVE all these parts of our amazing Lord!! But how often do we talk about how POWERFUL our God is!?!? He told Noah to build a boat! Save his family! And to save two of each animal! He sent the animals to Noah! We love that story! Noah listened to God! He was faithful! But we neglect the other half of that story!
Are you a Noah? Do you listen to God? Have you been 100% faithful to Him? Or do you only do what is comfortable for you? Do you only listen when it is convenient? Are you more like the rest of creation in this story? The one's that drowned in the great flood?! God wiped out ALL of humanity! Except for the family of Noah and Noah that was on board that boat!
God did promise that He would never flood the entire Earth again! What He didn't promised was that He would never send His wrath again. He didn't say that He wouldn't swallow up blocks of homes in a sink hole! Or that an earthquake wouldn't rip your home in half! Or that a tornado wouldn't take out a city. Or that a fire wouldn't consume an entire state!
Isaiah 43:2 says, "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you."
Where do you fit in? Are you walking hand in hand with Christ? Faithful in every step you take? Faithful in your finances? Faithful in your calling? Faithful that if you were sent into a lion's den- that God would close the mouths of the lions?
Or are you one of the people that God is disgusted with? SO disgusted that He would want to wipe you off the earth? Are you sitting comfy in your "lazy boy", banking on God's love, mercy and grace to save you no matter what you do?
We need to be thankful for God's love, mercy and grace! Stop taking it for granted! We are going to start digging into how powerful our God is! Into those stories that are uncomfortable! But they are important!
As much as we want to believe that everyone will go to Heaven! And we talk about God's grace and mercy at every funeral, and how lucky that the person that had passed was! Because they were dancing on the streets of gold! And feasting at the Lord's table! But the harsh truth is, that when we get to Heaven, we will be surprised and shocked by who is not there! We will rejoice for the ones that are!
Jesus is the way the truth and the life- no one comes to the Father but through Him! (From John 14:6) No where does that say that God's grace and mercy gives you a free ride through life, and straight into Heaven! Your relationship with Jesus does! Your walking with Jesus does! Your talking with Jesus does! Your trusting Jesus does! That's the golden ticket! Loving Jesus!
