68. Keepsakes

I apologize for being inconsistent! I am trying to do better! Life has been crazy! But I think that is true for everyone!! But here's what I got for you today!

Do you have one of those boxes laying around labeled, "Keepsakes"? One of those boxes that you bring out once a decade, and reminisce about the past, and the one's that went before us! I have this chair in my garage, it was my grandma's sewing chair. Oh, how I loved to watch my grammy sit in that chair and turn plain old fabric into beautiful garments! Now, I do not sew. I have no use- personally for this chair! So why do I keep it? I don't physically need it to remember her! Or to remember the mighty woman of God she was! I don't physically need it to get the warm and fuzzy feeling of the amazing memories of her!

1 Timothy 6:6-8 says, "Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. 8. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content."

So why do we keep this stuff? Why do some people pay for storage units? We cling to things as if this world is out eternal home! We thrive on the thought- that just maybe- someday- I will need it! The thought of it going to waste in a landfill! For some is UNFATHOMABLE!

But if we live for Christ! When we walk the walk and talk the talk! Then that someday is now! That "someday" has come for those treasures that we store! There is someone that could really use that kitchen table in your garage! There is somebody that could use those clothes in a bin in your basement! There is someone that could use that extra dresser that you have that you don't know what to do with!

Matthew 6:19-21 says, "Don't store up treasures here on Earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20. Store your treasures in Heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves cannot break in and steal. 21. Wherever you treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."

The longer you let these "treasures" sit for your "someday", the more they will deteriorate! I once put a mattress and a box spring in a shed for "someday". When that "someday" came, we pulled it out, and found that squirrels had made a nest in the mattress. Both pieces were full of fecal matter, and both pieces had to be thrown out.  Now if I had been walking the walk and talking the talk, I would've thought to bless someone with it to begin with!

Proverbs 11:24&25 says, "Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. 25. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."

Let go of those things that are holding you back! They are holding you back from blessings! They are holding you back from being refreshed over and over! It's time for me to bless someone with my grandma's chair!! Is it time for you to bless someone with something? Or will you let mice, and moths, and squirrels destroy it?
