There has been much discussion about the people of the church, and how so many come on Sunday mornings, they smile, they wave, they drink their coffee, and then you don't see or hear from them again until the next Sunday. Then there is the small group that shows up for everything! Every Bible study, every worship service! Even just random times- just to pray!! People talk, and so many say that Christians are "Hypocrites". That they are only good on Sundays. Here is what I say. There are plenty of people that are hypocrites! We are all human! We are all going to make mistakes! I am not perfect. God is still working on me! But for those people that come on Sundays, just to check God off your list for the week--- I have news for you!!! That is not enough!
Revelations 3:15-19 says, "I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot or cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16. But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 17. You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. 18. So I advise you to buy gold from me- gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference."
I was one of those people for a long time! As long as I wasn't a serial killer during the week! And I was trying my best to be a decent person! I would come on Sunday mornings, get my name checked on a checklist, and that was enough for me! But there lies the problem! It was enough for me! It wasn't enough for God! And by all things considered, He deserves SO much MORE!! Think about the praise people get for saving someone from falling into train tracks. They pull them out in just the nick of time! Saving their lives! They get put on the news, on talk shows, people send them flowers and cards and money. Our God saves us from burning in a pit for all of eternity! And how do we treat Him? How do you treat Him? Do you treat Him like He saved your life? Or like He is a nuisance?
He is calling each one of to do things for His Kingdom! For our future! He was steady pulling at my heart strings, and I was steadily ignoring Him! It wasn't until about a year ago that I started saying "YES!" Lord! I now look back at everything that He has done in my life in just one year- and I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY AMAZED!!
Revelations 3:20-22 continues with, "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21. Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on His throne. 22. Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches."
I want to share that meal with Jesus!! I want to sit at the throne with Him! I want to be worthy of those things! What do you want? Will you be stumbling over your words and trying to make excuses?! Or will Jesus take you by the hand to His Father!!?? Will God tell you "Well done my good and faithful servant!?!?" Will God tell you "WELCOME HOME"!?!
