In the midst of the 10 Commandments, a topic of "False Doctrine" came up. I think this is super important to discuss. False Doctrine is an increasing issue all around the world. With people wanting to be put on their own pedestals. They are creating narratives to fit their circumstances. With Pastors and teachers being bullied into and threatened into preaching and teaching in different manners that do not Aline with the word of God.
This is usually an art skill of cult leaders. They will pick specific scriptures and build a community around those few scriptures. A very popular one is, Ephesians 5:22-24, "For wives, this means submit to you husbands as to the Lord. 23. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of His body, the church. 24. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to you husbands in everything."
This particular scripture has been used and abused repeatedly. It is an excuse for domestic violence. It is an excuse for sexual abuse. It is an excuse to control women, not only inside the family home, but also in cult compounds, and in human trafficking.
But if you read the ENTIRE chapter- there is oh so much more! Like everything else, we need to be shouting that there is OH SO MUCH MORE!!! When you continue, it says, Ephesians 5:25-30, "For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up HIs life for her 26. to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word. 27. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28. In the same way, husband's ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just Christ cares for the church. 30. And we are members of His body.
Could you imagine if every husband loved his wife- as Jesus loves us!?!?! This partnership, this marriage, is/was never intended to be ruled with an iron fist by the husband! It was to be equal- loving- full of grace- A partnership!
This is how false doctrine is created and spread. They take a little nugget of truth, then twist it into whatever fits their wanted outcome! It's clever, yet oh so sick at the same time. Just remember that the devil is a liar. He is not capable of telling 100% of the truth at any moment. If it sounds twisted and looks twisted- seek further for the full truth!
It's for the same reason that people use the 5th Commandment to use their own children as the own personal work mules.
They use those words in the 5th Commandment about honoring your mother and your father as the ultimate excuse for any behavior, whether good or bad to use and abuse their children.
Psalms 127:3 says, "Children are gifts from the Lord; they are a reward from Him."
Keep seeking- because at the end of the day- God loves us! And He wants us to love each other- especially our own family! And in the same manner that He loves us!
The truth always finds a way to reveal itself!
