33. Your body is a temple

If this is your first time here, please return and start with the 1st entry! Thank you.

In the previous entry- we ended with 1 Corinthians 6:19&20: "Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. 20. For God bought you with a high price. So, you must honor God with your body." So, what does that all mean? How is that possible? In Jeremiah 1:5 it says: "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations."

Before we were thought of by our parents. before Jesus died on the cross, and even before Adam and Eve ate the apple- God already had a plan for us! He created us in the hope that we would choose Him! (Remember free will!)  For we cannot live out His plan if we do not choose Him. God is our creator, Jesus is His Son, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. When we choose God, we release our bodies from the world, and return them to God.

In 1 John 2:15-17 it says: "Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world. 17. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever."

God gives us a list of do's and don'ts and where people get really messed up is that these do's and don'ts revolve around being a good person. I think some people get stuck on that and think it's enough to just be a good person. But God also told us to go out and share His Goodness! To share His Good News! To share His name and His Gospel (bible).

In Matthew 28:18-20 it says: " Jesus came and told His disciples 'I have been given all authority in Heaven and on Earth. 19.Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 20.Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this; I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Now I am not saying to go stand on a street corner and scream at people. I am saying that while you are shopping with a friend, or having a family meal, you can talk about your salvation! Tell them your story. Tell them how much you have changed, and how much your life has changed. Just keep in mind that they have free will also. Be prepared for all scenarios.

In 1 Corinthians 9:27 it says: "I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others, I myself might be disqualified."

So, keep talking, keep practicing and continue your walk with the Lord. During those conversations remember Matthew 10:28 "Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch you soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

God loves and adores you! He wants you to choose Him, His will, His Promises, His Kingdom, let Him use your body as His temple for His glory- to play out the plan He has for you!

Until next time: Numbers 6:24-26

24. May the Lord Bless you and protect you.

25. May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you.

26. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.
